Now that you're relaxed and mellow from that diversion, you can get all worked up again over Ohio politics.
Campaign Junkie rounds up info for us on the health of the Junkie and, his words not mine, the "buffoonery" of the Ohio TEL. You can also read about why the Junkie called his congressman about President Bush and the Federal Reserve.
No rest for the weary as the Columbus Education Association blog reviews Ohio Department of Education data about Hope Academies. Likewise, CEA suggests that the IRS look more closely at charter school chains.
Start County, Ohio News and Views announces that Perry Township accepted grant money to fund D.A.R.E. programs and offers follow-up on what's happening in the OH-16 congressional race. And in this blast from the past, we learn about one of the Republicans who ran in the primary for the OH-16 race.
I'm not making this up, but I was just saying the same thing as Ohio Republic who asks, Can anyone say "military-industrial complex?" Likewise, I hope, like Ohio Republic that Scott Ritter is wrong about rumors of a war with Iran.
One co-editor of this Carnival, the Keeler Political Report comments on Connie Schultz's Plain Dealer column regarding men, mouths and Hillary Clinton. Ben's also submitted a two-fer from The Point. First, Ohio Republican Party Chairman Bob Bennett says he wont get involved in the Summit County happenings. And then, Good Lord help us, he and Kyle discuss what is going on at the Ohio Attorney General's office.
Bizzy Blog proprietor Tom Blumer says, "why counties are jumping into this is beyond me." Find out what "this" is and see if you agree.
The other Carnival co-editrix, she of Glass City Jungle, also has a few things to say about Connie Schultz' column on men telling Hillary Clinton to drop out of the presidential primary.
She also offers serious thought on Ohio’s lethal injection procedure and the larger death penalty issue.
Roland Hansen Commentary turns an eye on the Lucas County commissioners to consider whether and how they are committing acts of political posturing.
Lisa Renee wasn't the only one writing about capital punishment. Conservative Culture asks for volunteers for the firing squad. And on the topic of border security, CC asserts that the weakest link is at the border of Mexico (and not Lake Erie? :) that's the inferred Ohio connection no doubt!).
I'm so grateful to all the great bloggers in Ohio who get to all the stuff I don't like The Boring Made Dull hitting on legislation that's been introduced by Sandra Williams to the Ohio legislature on the topic of forcing parents to put in time at their kids' school. Frankly, I'm surprised only a couple of submissions came in regarding MarcDann and what TBMD refers to as "the culture of corruption, Ohio Attorney General Edition."
Ohio Daily Blog gives its take on the watered-down foreclosure relief bill in the Senate and Sherrod Brown's last-ditch effort to improve it. In primary source reporting, here's ODB's
interview with Nick Von Stein, the Democratic candidate who is heroically taking on House Minority Leader John Boehner in OH-08. If you want to learn about why Jeff wasn't overly impressed with the "compacts" signed by nine sub-prime mortgage lenders in Ohio, you'll need to read this post.
The Cincinnati Beacon highlights a 1999 Memphis court decision that suggests government involvement in a conspiracy related to Martin Luther King's assassination.
The environment isn't something too often discussed in Carnival posts but in addition to one already listed about the Great Lakes Water Compact, ePluribus Media looks at how a report finds that hard rains falling in Ohio might be a sign of global warming. If the subject of Ohio print editors crying to the AP over rates doesn't make you want to read about it, trust me - the graphic is worth it.
Have Coffee Will Write, after reading a missive from Deputy ORP Chair Kevin DeWine, comments that, "DeWine must be either a glassy-eyed drone or a comedian worthy of Comedy Central." Go read why.
What did I have to say about Ohio and politics? The Hellenic Times reviews two Ohio Greek political candidates. And encore presentation of why for-profit K-12 education provision ventures should be prohibited when taxpayer money is involved. And Jewish connections to Youngstown and the Cleveland Indians (I know - not so political but hey - how often do you read stuff about being Jewish that isn't political!?).
Thanks for the contributions and spread the word. Every Tuesday is a new opportunity to come to the Carnival. Have a great week.
