Carnival of Ohio Politics Thanksgiving edition

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and while the original one could not be considered to be a bountiful type feast, that many of us enjoy as a yearly tradition, the cornucopia is a symbol that is often used during this season. This goes back to the 5th century BC as a symbol of food and abundance, and if you are wondering how I'm going to possibly transition that into something relevant to the Carnival? It could easily be said that we have a cornucopia of ideas and thoughts that are shared here weekly.

The Madrigal Maniac on the blog also named The Madrigal Maniac found two articles that focused on the musings of Are Social Conservatives Losing Clout. Then his attention turns to a topic of even more seriousness, Soldiers Substance Abuse Counseling Needs Go Unmet. It's clear this will have an impact on Ohio, especially with some of the cuts made in services here at home.

Roland Hansen's thoughts this week on Roland Hansen Commentary that he wanted to share was his being thankful that Sarah Palin was not elected vice president in light of the incident where the media showed turkeys being killed in the background while she was pardoning one of them.

Republicans: It’s time to hang it up is the suggestion by Harold Thomas on The Ohio Republic. In this thought provoking post he suggests America would be best served by a vibrant three-party system and provides his reasoning for that position.

The topic of School Violence is the focus of the first submission by Jason from Rowsey Blog. It's something he plans to continue to write about in the future. The economy next gets some blog space with, Weak Economy Wreaks More Damage Than Money Problems. Jason points out that something many do not realize about a weak economy is the increase in domestic violence and suicide rates that some areas of the country and our state are experiencing.

At Just Blowing Smoke Tim Higgins has his own idea of a Bailout plan that he's sharing with us. It's an interesting list and I see that I'll have to work harder to earn a spot on it.

Can Pot Luck Grow in Ohio? is the question asked by OhioNewsBureau. It's not the type of pot luck you may be thinking about this week, it is the Medical Cannabis Bill or "Ohio Compassionate Act" (S.B.343). Next we have the topic of Tyrannosaurus Republicanus that is felt to be facing extinction.

Ben Keeler sharing some posts from The Point shares one he penned, Welcome back to Columbus, Senator Grendell where it appears the welcome might not be so, welcome. Next a post by Kyle that there could be Good News for Mary Jo Kilroy. Last on a sad note, The Point will be ending soon according to this post, The End of the Run.

Mary Taylor is Right: Joe the Plumber Snoop Should be Fired is the first submission from Tom Blumer at BizzyBlog. I think if the blogosphere had any say, that probably would have happened. Next Tom writes about part of the story related to this data leak that has not gotten a lot of coverage, Joe the Plumber Data Dive Whistle Blower Nearly Invisible. Which he's right, if you had not read the Inspector General's report you might not even know the name "Vanessa Niekamp".

Over at Conservative Culture, the news that Sen. Keith Faber To Number 3 Spot in the Ohio Senate is looked upon with favor. The incorrect reporting related to the False Report About Ohio Mosque Attack points out that despite the truth coming out, some student organizations are still claiming hundreds were injured and that this was some type of a terrorist attack.

While I have enjoyed all of the posts submitted this week, my personal favorite this week was written on Seneca County Blog and not just because it contains quotes from "The Life of Brian". It's about the Birth of a Nation penned by scout639 and it reminds us of one of the most important things that the Pilgrims gave us that we should be thankful for.

On Glass City Jungle the news that the The smoking ban war to begin again this time in the Senate really got things heated up, even though it appears the battle is going to go up in smoke. Over on my other blog, I made the suggestion that those who were shocked by what happened with the whole Palin Turkey Pardoning episode that many Ohio media outlets covered, might want to think about how that turkey on their table got there. I share some great Vegetarian ideas for those who were shocked to discover that turkeys are killed for Thanksgiving.
